Twitch, the NFL Players Association (NFLPA), and Epic Games have partnered for the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl–a three-part series with NFL players and Twitch streamers paired together in Fortnite competitions for charity.
Streamers will draft a partner from a pool of NFL players. Once each streamer has a partner, they will play a “duos” tournament with a $500K USD charity prize pool live from Miami during Super Bowl LIV week.
All active NFL players will also be invited to participate in the NFLPA Open, where players can play Fortnite for a chance to be named the “Best Fortnite Player in the League.” Upon the conclusion of the NFLPA Open on Jan. 15, four participants will be selected to participate in the Twitch Rivals Streamer Bowl.
The NFL has partnered with Twitch on various occasions, bringing Thursday Night Football to their streaming audience and allowing high-profile influencers (particularly those associated with Fortnite) to co-stream games. Additionally, Twitch will be the official streaming provider for the NFL’s Raiders when they move to Las Vegas from Oakland in 2020.
