NFL Week 4: New England Patriots defence looks amongst best ever as Dallas Cowboys turn to new triplets

This week’s big game in the NFL is, in my mind, the New England Patriots vs the Buffalo Bills.

We’ve got two 3-0 teams in the same division, but it’s interesting for more reasons than that.

The Patriots, we probably expected them to be 3-0, but the Bills are the real surprise unbeaten team at this stage. The Patriots have always dominated the AFC East, but now they have to take on another unbeaten team from the same division.

The big question is: Can the Patriots defence continue to be this elite?

So far, they haven’t conceded a touchdown, and it really is unbelievable.

This could be one of the most elite defences of all-time, especially if they can come out of this one without conceding a touchdown.

For the Patriots, it’s always been about the offence and Tom Brady, so them having a defence of this calibre is truly frightening for the entire rest of the NFL.

Tom Brady is now being backed up by a frighteningly good defence in New England

The Bills defence have also been looking strong. Coach Sean McDermott has built that group around his image. The safeties are great, and they disrupt other teams’ pass blocking principles.

The Patriots O vs the Bills D is going to be intriguing, seeing how McDermott looks to exploit them.

I’m definitely expecting the Patriots to win this one, but I want to see what the Bills can do, because they could set a blueprint for the rest of the league to slow the Patriots offense.

I also want to see what Josh Allen can do against this Patriots defence. Can his athleticism exploit them? Can he be the X-factor the Bills need to win this game?

Dallas Cowboys turn to new triplets – but face huge test in New Orleans

The Dallas Cowboys have been arguably the biggest surprise this season in terms of offence.

They’ve been explosive, dynamic and looked really dangerous, so it’s going to be interesting to see how they match-up against the Saints defence.

A lot of people are talking about the ‘new triplets’. Back in their golden era, they were winning Super Bowls with Troy Aikman, Michael Irvin and Emmitt Smith.

Now, they’ve got Ezekiel Elliott, Dak Prescott and Amari Cooper looking to do the same. Can these new guys be like the old and lead this team on a Super Bowl path?

Dallas Cowboys are looking to a new generation to lead them back to glory

We’re going to learn a lot about this Cowboys offence in New Orleans. We call it the Bermuda Triangle, because a lot of good teams go down there to the Superdome and get lost.

It’s a huge challenge as a team to go to a hostile environment and try to continue firing on offence. Sometimes, you need the defence to lead you and the Cowboys need theirs to put them in a position to win.

The Saints will be without Drew Brees, so they need Teddy Bridgewater to continue to evolve at quarterback. They need him to go out there, be a playmaker and take more risks down field.

He played well last week, but he can’t just take the safe options against this Cowboys defence. He needs to take some shots down the field, and I think he can do that, especially having the weapon of Alvin Kamara as a receiver underneath.

He’s the best player on that team, a playmaker in the pass game, and with the threat of Michael Thomas out wide as well, he’s got all the weapons to succeed.

Can those triplets beat the Cowboys triplets?

Eagles edge Thursday Night Football battle

We saw a great finish on Thursday Night Football, going down to the wire, and the Eagles have been used to that this year.

The Eagles were a great team on paper at the beginning of the year, but their problem has been injuries. When you lose DeSean Jackson, that’s a huge blow, especially when the whole offence is based around him being able to stretch the field vertically.

Without him and Alshon Jeffery, they’ve been really hampered the last two weeks, but they got Jeffery back and for Carson Wentz there was an immediate impact.

Both tight ends played well, but Jordan Howard ran the ball and was a real threat. He had 87 rushing yards and two touchdowns, and with Miles Sanders having 72 yards on the ground as well, they ran the ball really well. That’s what you need to do on the road.

The Eagles edged a close game with the Packers on Thursday Night Football

After a mixed start, this was a game you could sense the Eagles felt they needed to win. The Green Bay Packers were taking on a desperate team, and that’s always the sort of side that is dangerous to play against at home.

In a tight game like that, you can’t lose the turnover battle. You need you possessions to count, and although the Packers moved the ball, they lost the turnover battle.

You saw that in a nutshell with the interception at the end on the goal line, and when a game is that tight, usually the team who wins the turnover battle gets out of there with the win.
