Calling all fashion fans: Alexa Chung is making her grand return to presenting tomorrow alongside Queer Eye’s resident stylist Tan France in a new fashion competition launching on Netflix.
Next in Fashion sees 18 budding fashion designers battle it out to receive $250,000 (£192,000) from Net-A-Porter as well as the opportunity to retail their debut collection with the luxury e-tailer.
A rotating panel of judges, including Instagram’s Eva Chen, designers Tommy Hilfiger and Prabal Gurung and model Adriana Lima among others, will assess each designer’s work in varying trend and design-based challenges.
Unlike its American competitor Project Runway, most of the contestants on Next in Fashion have already worked for some of fashion’s most revered brands, including Stella McCartney and Alexander Wang.
The 10-episode series has gathered talent from all over the world including designers from LA, China, Mexico, Britain, Scotland and Italy.
“We are delighted to work with Netflix on ‘Next In Fashion,’ awarding $250,000 and the opportunity to be stocked at Net-A-Porter to an incredibly deserving talent,” explained Elizabeth von der Goltz, the Global Buying Director at Net-A-Porter. “‘Next in Fashion’ further showcases our long-term support of global fashion talent.”
The winner of the series’ collection will launch on Net-A-Porter in February 2020.
36-year-old Chung rose to fame as a model in the nineties but quickly established herself as a budding presenter before setting up her fashion label, Alexachung.
While 36-year-old France previously ran his own womenswear line Kingdom & State before finding fame as one fifth of Queer Eye’s ‘Fab Five’.
