A HOLIDAY resort dubbed “Cornwall’s Center Parcs’ has plans to open a new attraction with activity centres, wellness facilities and accomodation.
St Mellion Estate, near Saltash, is currently a luxury golf course, but will be transformed into the family resort.
Earlier this year, plans revealed a wedding venue, kids’ club with outdoor play and golf area and tennis court facilities.
Recent permission has requested by Cornwall Council for hundreds of holiday lodges, ranging in sizes, as well as glamping pods.
The 230 lodges would be either two-bedroom or four-bedroom, and made from sustainable wood.
Visitors will also be able to visit the sports and activity centre, or parents can slip off to the spa facilities.
The current lake would also be transformed to allow water activities such as canoeing, bubble zorbing and fishing, with a new beach area planned as well.
The new resort hopes to focus on sustainability and wellness, similar to Center Parcs and the nearby Eden Project with artisan bakers and farm shop also on-site.
Jason Mills, CEO of Crown Golf Property, said: “We are delighted that St Mellion Parish Council continues to support the St Mellion Estate. The unprecedented impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on all hospitality businesses underlines the need to evolve and adapt.”
If the project is accepted, building the resort will start next year.
Other exciting UK plans include The Elysium Waterpark in Bournemouth which will stretch 75 acres across Poole and the New Forest.
A huge new indoor water park and spa is also coming to Manchester, with water slides, pools, wellness areas and even swim up bars.
A new water park with a surf pool, spa and 250m beach is to open in Southport in Lancashire.
