New Gulliver’s Valley theme park forced to suspend construction – but tickets in June are still available


CONSTRUCTION on the new Gulliver’s Valley theme park has been suspended due to the new measures in place due to the coronavirus outbreak in the UK.

The park is due to open in June, with day ticket and short break bookings still available from June 6.

However, due to new restrictions which mean people must social distance and be at least two metres away from each other, building work has now been paused.

Julie Dalton, managing director of Gulliver’s Theme Parks and Resorts told local media: ‘To ensure the safety of our staff and to adhere to the Government guidance for people to stay at home, we decided to temporarily suspend construction work on our Gulliver’s Valley site on March 23.”

“While we could never have predicted the current situation, we do have ample flexibility built into our schedule for unknown delays or disruption.”

However, she explained that the current pause on work is “not impacting on when we’ll be opening the doors,” although added that this could change.

She continued: “We cannot wait to continue the build. We’re ready to resume works as soon as it is safe for our teams to do so and we’ll be sure to keep the public updated with any new information as the situation unfolds.”

The theme park is part of a £37 million project within the Gulliver’s Theme Park resort franchise.

Across the 250-acre park with be a two-storey indoor entertainment area, the size of 22 tennis courts, along with themed lands.

In Toyland, guests can enjoy a carousel ride as well as a ferris wheel, while rides such as the T-Rex Tower and a flying ride called Gyrosaur will open at the Lost Jurassic World.

There will also be a Western World land, with cowboys and western duels, along with Smugglers Wharf, a pirate themed land.

There will be more than 70 rides, along with a climbing centre, water play zone and an attraction known as the ‘Blast Area’ with NERF gun battles.

There will be even be accommodation on-site, including a number of themed areas – such as pirates and princesses – as well as the option for glamping.
