Europe’s elite competition is set to undergo NINE rule changes next season.
But Liverpool and Tottenham will kick off proceedings by adhering to one of those rules when they play each other in the final on June 1.
Both teams will be able to name a 23-man squad, giving Jurgen Klopp and Mauricio Pochettino the chance to pick from 12 substitutes on the night.
The change, along with the other eight were agreed upon by the International Football Association Board.
Liverpool will be looking to win their sixth European Cup at the third attempt having lost in the Champions League finals in 2007 and 2018.
Tottenham are in there first ever final and will be aiming to break an 11-year trophy hoodoo.
The nine Champions League rule changes
Handballs
Players will be penalised for using their hands or arms, accidentally or not, to create a goalscoring chance or to score themselves.
Substitutions
Teams will be able to pick from 12 players in a 23-man squad.
Free-kicks
Attackers will have to stand at least one metre away from the defensive wall.
Goal-kicks
Goal-kicks will no longer have to leave the penalty area but opposition will still not be allowed in the box.
Drop-balls
They’re extinct. The ball will be given to the goalkeeper of the team who last touched the ball.
Penalties
Goalkeepers aren’t allowed to touch the goalposts and they will have to keep one leg on the goal-line once a spot-kick is taken.
Leaving the pitch
Players will now be forced to leave the pitch wherever they are position on the field in an attempt to stop time-wasting.
Coin toss
Coin toss winners will have the option to kick off first or choose an end to play against.
Yellow and red cards
Managers will now receive yellow and red cards! Exciting.
