Incoming Arsenal technical director Edu is already working with Unai Emery over the Gunners’ moves in the transfer market, according to reports in Brazil.

The former Arsenal midfielder is expected to be named the club’s new technical director after the completion of the Copa America, where he’s serving as Brazil’s coordinator.

Edu has made it clear that he wants to focus on the Copa America before taking over a role at Arsenal but UOL Esporte claim that hasn’t stopped him from working with Emery.

It’s reported that Edu has already advised Emery on Arsenal’s transfer dealings this summer and is taking an active role in the decision-making progress.

Arsenal are yet to make a signing so far this summer but they are confident of completing a move for Celtic’s Kieran Tierney.

The Gunners are believed to be preparing an improved bid of around £18m for the Scotland international, though the Bhoys are holding out for closer to £30m.

Arsenal are also keen on Crystal Palace star WIilfried Zaha but Emery is working with a modest £45m budget this summer and will need to sell before he can fund a move for the Ivorian.

The departure of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been mooted in some quarters, though it’s more likely that Mesut Ozil will be sold to raise funds.

Zaha is believed to be keen on a move to the Emirates but Palace have agreed a deal to sell Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United and are unlikely to sanction the departure of another of their key players this summer.
