Neve Campbell has delivered some of the best news we’ve heard all year after confirming she will indeed reprise her role in the upcoming Scream relaunch.

The 46-year-old actress is set to return to the iconic horror franchise as Sidney Prescott, the long-suffering victim of Ghostface.

Sharing the exciting news in an Instagram post, Neve simply wrote: ‘Hello again, Sidney #ImBack,’ along with a haunting video of Ghostface’s mask drawing closer as the words ‘Hello Sidney, remember me?’ appear on screen.

She added in a full statement: ‘After spending time speaking with Radio Silence, they have shown such love, respect and admiration for Wes Craven and all that he’s created in the Scream franchise.

‘I am beyond excited to step back into the role of Sidney Prescott and return to Woodsboro.’

It’s music to the ears of Scream fans who had been left in limbo over whether Neve would return to the series ever since the fifth installment was announced earlier this year.

Neve’s announcement pretty much completes the list of OG cast members who are returning, with Courteney Cox and David Arquette previously announcing they will pick up where Gale Weathers and Dewey Riley left off.

It was recently announced that The Boys star Jack Quaid has been cast, while Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega are also newbies.

In a statement today, Radio Silence said: ‘We’re pinching ourselves! It’s hard to express how much the character Sidney Prescott shaped our love of movies and to have the chance to work with Neve is truly a dream come true.

‘It just wouldn’t be a Scream movie without Neve and we’re so excited and honored to join her in Woodsboro.’

Production on Scream will take place in Wilmington, North Carolina.

David, who plays loveable policeman Dewey, recently revealed he was ‘excited’ to reunite on-screen with his real life ex-wife Courteney despite their divorce.

‘I love working with her. I mean, we have a daughter together, Coco,’ David told TooFab.

‘So, we co-parent really well together, but it’s always fun to act opposite of her. She’s a tremendous actor, so I’m excited for that. It’ll be fun.’

Scream will arrive in cinemas on January 14 2022.
