NetherRealm trolls Mortal Kombat 11 dataminers with Terminator "Kombat Pack 2" Easter egg

Looks like Meat’s back on the menu, boys.

NetherRealm has had some fun with Mortal Kombat 11 community, trolling dataminers who leaked the identity of DLC characters.

Dataminers leaked the entire set of DLC characters included in Kombat Pack 1 before Mortal Kombat 11’s official release date in April. That explosive leak revealed Shang Tsung, Joker, Nightwolf, Terminator, Sindel and Spawn, all of whom were subsequently confirmed by the developers.

Dataminers uncovered mention of DLC characters before Mortal Kombat 11 even came out.

Now, NetherRealm has trolled the Mortal Kombat 11 dataminers by adding a “Kombat Pack 2” Easter egg in one of The Terminator’s outros.

The video, below, shows The Terminator’s outro in which you get a first-person view in the iconic red scan style of the T-800. Various information flashes on screen.

This video doesn’t show it, but leave the outro running and Terminator will perform a “datamine” that reveals the Kombat Pack 2 characters.

This obvious troll mentions six characters: Mileena, Rain, Li Mei, Sareena, Meat and Mokap. The developers are having some fun here. While fans have called for the likes of Mileena and Rain to be added as playable characters, no-one wants Meat, one of the series’ most obscure characters. And, let’s be honest, Mokap would break the game.

The Terminator outro acknowledges the dataminers’ good work with the exact same coding and text.

Does this little troll rule out the likes of Mileena and Rain? Maybe. Maybe not! NetherRealm chief Ed Boon is infamous for being a bit of a troll himself, and his tweets are a tiresome exercise in deciphering misdirection. The original datamine uncovered mention of Ash Williams, Fujin and Sheeva. They’re safer bets.

There’s more in the Easter egg: the Terminator’s “datamine” also mentiones Friendship, Babality, Animality and Harakiri, none of which are in the game. They would be cool though!

This little troll is well-timed, too. Mortal Kombat 11 has just been datamined once again to reveal Halloween-themed gubbins for some of the characters. Baraka as Pennywise the Clown looks like it’s an actual thing.

Really.
