Thought you recognised Tiger King’s Doc Antle before the Netflix series made Joe Exotic a household name? Chances are you’re a die-hard Britney Spears fan.

The surreal true crime series has taken another mind-blowing turn as it turns out a key player from the Joe Exotic saga appear to have been a part of Britney’s rodeo during her early noughties heyday.

Way back in 2001, before she was breaking Usain Bolt’s World Record, Britney took to the Video Music Awards with a snake draped around her neck, dripping in sweat and sliding around the stage while wandering between an array of wild beasts. It was Peta’s worst nightmare.

If you look closely, you’ll be able to spot Doc Antle who was on stage with the pop icon making sure she didn’t get gobbled up by the tiger glaring behind her. Sadly, he’s since confirmed the golden tabby tiger died.

Britney’s connection to Tiger King is just the latest twist in what has become the most talked-about series during the coronavirus quarantine.

The entire planet has become fascinated with Joe Exotic, his ex-husbands, his race to the White House, and relentless pursuit to destroy his wild cat sanctuary rival Carole Baskin.

Joe was sentenced to 22 years behind bars in January 2020 for plotting to kill Baskin.

However, he’s since filed a $94 million (£75.8 million) lawsuit against the US Federal Wildlife Service and the US Department of Interior and his former business partner Jeff Lowe. He’s also seeking a presidential pardon from Donald Trump. Really.

Basically, the drama continues to unfold daily.

Tiger King is available to stream on Netflix now.
