Netflix has been ‘boosted’ by coronavirus, according to market experts.

The virus is spreading around the world at an alarming rate, with the disease claiming 2,800 lives so far – and the World Health Organisation has now stated it presents at a ‘very high risk’ at a ‘global level’.

And Dan Salmon, an analyst for BMO Capital Market, suggested the streaming service is benefiting enormously from the illness.

According to the Independent, he said: ‘Netflix is an obvious beneficiary if consumers stay home due to coronavirus (COVID-19 virus) concerns, and this has been reflected in considerable stock price outperformance this week.’

But it’s not the only service that has ‘spiked’ after the coronavirus outbreak.

The publication states China’s mobile gaming industry has also recorded ‘record usage levels’ on the most popular games.

The news comes after it was revealed that Dancing On Ice producers were taking precautions over the spreading of the virus.

And Dan Whiston explained the team are attempting to be ‘one step in front’ when it comes to protecting the cast and crew – including hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The associate Creative Director Dan Whiston said: ‘We’ve got an amazing medical team. We’ve got an amazing production team that are all over this kind of stuff.

‘There is hand sanitiser everywhere and procedures have been put in place to protect the cast and crew, so I know they’re all over that.

‘Without panicking people, you’ve got to be one step in front, always.

‘Things like hand sanitiser on the doorways, we encourage that anyway,’ he added to the Sun. ‘You’ve got to step up and do the best you can in the environment we’re in.’
