A noticeable rise in subscription fees has been spotted on the service’s sign-up page this week
Netflix have confirmed that they are currently carrying out tests on a range of price increases for customers who want to access its UK service.
People in the UK have been reporting seeing a range of prices for Netflix’s three-tiered subscription service on its sign-up page, with the Premium package – which streams in Ultra HD and allows four different screens to be used on one account at the same time – now being advertised for higher than the existing £9.99-a-month price, with £12.99 being the highest rate to be quoted so far.
The prices of both the Basic and Standard packages (which usually cost £5.99 and £7.99 respectively per month) have also seen reported increases, with differing prices for the two subscriptions being displayed on Netflix UK’s sign-up page.
Netflix have now clarified that they are currently in the process of “testing” a new pricing strategy, with a spokesperson telling Digital Spy today (March 20): “We are testing slightly different prices to better understand how members value Netflix. Not everyone will see this test and we may never roll out these specific prices beyond this test.
“Our goal is to ensure that Netflix is always great value for money.”
In other Netflix news, the streaming service announced this week that another one of its shows will be styled as an interactive experience – much like the Black Mirror special Bandersnatch, which provided viewers with a choose-your-own-adventure narrative when it premiered at the start of this year.
