Each button is shaped like a disc and stuffed full of multicoloured mini Smarties.

They will begin appearing in shops across the UK and Ireland from this week in both sharing bags and single packs.

The milk chocolate variety is available as a single 32.5g pack and a 90g sharing bag.

The white chocolate versions come in a single 30g pack and an 85g sharing bag.

The RRP is 65p for the single packs, while sharing bags typically cost around £1.59

But Tesco is selling the white and milk chocolate sharing bags online for just £1.

The orange chocolate Smarties Buttons are only available in an 85g sharing bag and are exclusively sold in Asda.

Nestlé says it makes the Smarties Buttons at its factory in Fawdon, near Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

The factory is home to some of the UK’s best-known confectionery brands, including Rowntree’s Fruit Pastilles and Jelly Tots, Rolo, Caramac, Munchies and Toffee Crisp.

Smarties were first invented in 1937.

They come in eight colours; red, orange, blue, green, yellow, pink, violet and brown.

Orange smarties are also flavoured with natural orange oil.

If you want more sweet treats, Asda is selling magical unicorn ice cream cones for £1.

Or there’s bargains to be had at Tesco, as its half price Easter egg sale is back next week with eggs costing just 75p each.

And Cadbury’s has launched a new Easter range and it includes new Creme Egg chocolate cake bars.
