NCIS season 18: Why will Agent Jessica Knight team up with NCIS? Funeral plot unveiled

NCIS season 18 is almost over with just a couple more episodes left to air on CBS. These are crucial episodes though as more is expected to be revealed regarding Agent Gibbs’ (played by Mark Harmon) future on the team and hopefully show what really happened in the flashforward scene teased from the very beginning with Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray). There’s also the matter of a new character being introduced into the show.

WARNING: This article contains spoilers from NCIS.

Why will Agent Jessica Knight team up with NCIS?

CBS has been teasing for months now that former Hawaii Five-0 star Katrina Law would be showing up in NCIS.

She will be portraying Agent Jessica Knight, a character who will be working with NCIS but up until now, it hasn’t been explained how that would come about.

The network has now revealed how the two shall meet and it isn’t good news for Jessica.

But it does clear up a past teaser that had fans concerned about the welfare of its beloved characters.

Not that long ago, a picture was released of most of the cast, except Donald “Ducky” Mallard (David McCallum), dressed in black at a funeral.

So many were beginning to fear the worst for the chief medical examiner-turned-historian.

Thankfully, this is not Ducky’s funeral but the team was all adamant about paying their respects.

For it was actually a group of REACT Team agents, Jessica’s colleagues and friends, who had been killed.

Earlier this year, Deadline reported she would be in the last two episodes of NCIS season 18.

The publication also stated there could be an opportunity for actress Law to reprise her role when the drama returns for series 19.

NCIS’ renewal was confirmed last month, much to the delight of fans but it is still very much up in the air as to what role people will be playing.

At the moment, it isn’t guaranteed Law will be back for the new episodes and while Harmon will be in series 19, that doesn’t necessarily mean he will return to working as an agent.

Could it be time for Gibbs to finally retire and take a back seat to the rest of the team?
