In NCIS’ Sound Off, Agent Gibbs (played by Mark Harmon), Agent Ellie Bishop (Emily Wickersham), Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) and Agent Tim McGee (Sean Murray) had to solve the murder of Retired Gunnery Sergeant Daniel Backer. The building he was in was blown up but Chief Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer (Brian Dietzen) discovered he was dead before the explosion. One of the suspects in the case was Marine Staff Sergeant Diana Murphy (Katie Leclerc) but who is she?

Who plays Diana Murphy in NCIS’ Sound Off?

Warning: This article contains spoilers from NCIS season 17’s Sound Off.

American actress Katie Leclerc starred as Diana in the latest episode of NCIS.

She has made a number of small appearances over the years in popular television shows.

These include The Big Bang Theory, CSI, The Hard Times of RJ Berger and Veronica Mars.

But viewers will probably most recognise her from Switched at Birth where she played Daphne Vasquez for six years.

In the CBS crime drama, Leclerc plays the ex-girlfriend of Backer and she was the woman who manned the drone despite her commander’s orders not to fire it, she did so anyway which resulted in the building exploding.

When brought in for questioning, she said she didn’t kill Backer as she was still in love with him but the team couldn’t figure out why she didn’t follow the commander’s orders.

Gibbs soon found out Murphy was actually deaf and had lost her hearing, so much so that she couldn’t hear her boss.

She had been able to get away with hiding it for so long by reading people’s lips.

She continued: “My ears ring probably 80 percent of the time.

“My ears are full probably 60 percent of the time, where you feel like you have to pop them.

“There’s lots of pressure. Probably 60 percent of the time I get a severe head rush, like when you stand up too quickly.

“The full-blown vertigo attacks where it’s miserable, those only happen I would say maybe once every six weeks.”

In the next instalment of NCIS which airs tonight on CBS, is entitled On Fire and going by the promo, it looks like Agent Torres could be in grave danger.

The official synopsis for the episode reads: “After Torres and Bishop are victims of a hit-and-run, Torres fights for his life in the ICU.”

But will the agent be able to recover from his horrific injuries?

NCIS continues every Tuesday at 9pm on CBS.
