The update features a rematch of the NBA Finals between the Toronto Raptors and Golden State Warriors in a pick-up-and-play format.

It is targeting new and veteran 2K players and only requires the very basic controls of the game.

To play you only need the left joystick for movement, ‘Y’ or ‘Triangle’ to jump for rebounds or blocks, ‘X’ or ’Square’ to shoot, ‘A’ or ‘X’ to pass offensively and change player defensively.

There will be optional controls to learn as the game progresses or you play the game additional times, but it focuses on the absolute basics to get people playing the game.

The demo is available on both the Xbox and PlayStation store to be downloaded, for free, or if you already have the demo you can just update the game on your console to play this new mode.

Considering we have yet to see an NBA Live game this year, and it is often see to be kinder to new players looking to get into the game, this move by 2K may be a very deliberate effort to entice the less experienced basketball game players to 2K20.

The bare-bones gameplay simplifies the game very well to introduce new or returning players to the feel of 2K’s mechanics and controls. It also makes it possible to be more successful when first playing the game without feeling overwhelmed with complicated controls for every phase of the game.

NBA Live has a lot it could learn from NBA 2K20, but in the game’s absence it is 2K who are taking advantage and perhaps looking to take over even more of EA’s player base.
