Sacred Games season two was released this week on Netflix, leading to renewed interest in Nawazuddin Siddiqui, who plays Ganesh Gaitonde in the series. Siddiqui recently released an autobiography where he talked about his relationship with his wife Aaliya. The Ganesh Gaitonde actor revealed in this book that he was previously married to another woman before he appeared in the Netflix series.
Who is Nawazuddin Siddiqui married to?
Nawazuddin Siddiqui is married to fellow actor Aaliya Siddiqui, with whom he has two children.
Aaliya was born Anjali, but took a new first name about three years after she married Nawaz.
The pair grew up in the same village and dated in their youth before breaking up.
In his 2017 memoir An Ordinary Life, Siddiqui said of his relationship with Anjali: “We were madly in love but it was a tumultuous relationship, the course of which changed randomly, driven by fury. Her love was deep, her temper short.

“We quarrelled every few days or she would get upset.
“Every so often she would pack her bag and storm out in a fit of anger, to stay with a friend at Lokhandwala.
“Sometimes I would follow her, plead for forgiveness and cajole her to return home.
“This became a sort of a ritual, like a cassette tape annoyingly put on repeat.”

At that point, the pair decided not to get married and after a year, Nawaz married a girl named Sheeba, whom he married in 2010 or 2011.
Nawaz explained: “Anjali had disappeared for almost a year; there had been no word from her at all.”
In his book, he said the marriage broke up because: “Sheeba was a wonderful girl with a heart of gold but her brother was very intrusive. He interfered in our marriage constantly.”
That marriage did not last long, as by 2012 according to his book, he was dating a girl from New Jersey called Suzanne as well as co-star Niharika Singh.

At some point, however, he reconnected with Anjali and the pair decided to marry.
Nawaz said of this: “This time, she demanded marriage right away.
“She insisted upon it continuously. I was afraid: what if she repeated her ways of leaving in bouts of anger?
“She persisted, trying to assure me that she would not.”
