Chelsea target Nathan Ake is in no rush to leave his ‘amazing’ life in Bournemouth, but certainly hasn’t ruled out a move in the future.

The Netherlands international has been linked with a return to his former club, with the Blues able to activate a £40m buy-back clause in his contract.

Chelsea have made a bright start to life under Frank Lampard, but their defence has come in for criticism and clean sheets have proved hard to come by in the Premier League and in Europe.

The 24-year-old, who the Blues sold to Bournemouth for £20m, could be the answer to their problems, but he would have to be prised away from his ‘chilled’ life in Bournemouth.

‘I love Bournemouth, the place where we live is amazing,’ Ake told Sky Sports. ‘It’s so chilled and nice, and also the club itself is a family club. Especially as a young player to come here, it’s a perfect fit.

‘I don’t like to look too far ahead normally, I see it season-by-season or game-by-game. We will see what happens. I don’t like to go too much ahead of time.’

Ake joined Chelsea at the age of 16 and was part of the club until he left for the Cherries in 2017, so he has a firm connection with Stamford Bridge.

The defender admits that he still keeps a close eye on what is going on in west London and has been thoroughly impressed with how Lampard has done since returning to the club.

‘Yeah, 100 per cent [I have been impressed],’ Ake continued. ‘With the transfer ban, they couldn’t buy anyone, so they used the youth players and they have done fantastically. It’s so good to see and I’m so happy for everyone who is playing now.

‘Everyone could always see Frank Lampard would become a head coach. The way he was as a player, always trying to help people and on everyone’s case. I’m very happy for Chelsea.’

Ake is less likely to be the subject of a January bid from Chelsea due to Antonio Rudiger’s return from injury and the Bournemouth man’s own fitness problems.

The Dutchman was substituted during the 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool last weekend with a hamstring problem and could face as much as six weeks out of action.
