Natalie Portman has expressed how excited she is to return to Marvel’s Thor franchise, and we’re glad to have her back.

The 38-year-old will be appearing as her character scientist Jane Foster in the upcoming movie Thor: Love and Thunder

And it sounds as though she can’t wait to be back after her short hiatus when chatting with Entertainment Tonight’s Ash Crossan.

Here she told the publication: ‘They came to me with the idea and said, “We have this idea for you that was a storyline in some of the comics where Jane becomes Lady Thor.”

‘And I was like, “This is very exciting!”‘ It is indeed.

The actress has starred in the likes of Thor: The Dark World as well as Avengers: Endgame, however skipped the third film in Thor’s standalone series, Ragnarok.

Addressing her short break, the mother-of-two said: ‘Obviously, I wasn’t written into [Thor: Ragnarok] because of where it took place.

‘It wasn’t really on Earth, and my character is on Earth.’

Just recently it was confirmed by director Taika Waititi that Chris Hemsworth would be starring in the movie as Thor alongside Natalie’s Lady Thor.

The Jojo Rabbit actor set the record straight regarding who the storyline would focus on during a conversation with MTV News at TIFF.

‘It’s Chris,’ the 44-year-old insisted: ‘It’s a Thor film. He is Thor, it’s a Thor film. She’s in it.’

We’d never say a bad word about our favourite Aussie actor Chris, but we have to admit that we’re a little disappointed to hear Natalie will be playing second fiddle when the franchise returns in November 2021.

However, speaking about the latest movie, Taika, who directed 2017’s Thor Ragnarok, was keen to stress that Natalie’s character was so much more than just a female version of Chris’s warrior superhero.

‘[She’s] a Thor,’ Taika said. ‘There’s still the other Thor, the original Thor.’

He added: ‘She’s not called Female Thor. In the comics, she’s called the Mighty Thor. I couldn’t be more happy and excited by how it’s panning out.’

Thor: Love And Thunder will be released November 2021.
