Napoli in desperate race against time to finish building work for Liverpool Champions League clash as Ancelotti rages over state of changing rooms

CARLO ANCELOTTI is furious after finding out Napoli’s dressing rooms are still a construction site – days before they host Liverpool.

The Serie A outfit agreed to play their first two games away from home to allow renovations to take place.

But as pictures show the dismal state of the facilities in the ageing stadium, Ancelotti has slammed the contractors.

He said: “I saw the conditions of the San Paolo dressing rooms.

“There are no words. I accepted the company’s request to play the first two games away from home to allow the work to be completed, as was promised.

“In two months you can build a house, they have not been able to redo the changing rooms!

“Where should we change to play against Sampdoria and Liverpool?

“I am outraged by the incorrectness and inadequacy of those who had to carry out these jobs.

“How have Region, Municipality and Commissioners been able to disregard the commitments made?

“I see a contempt and a non-attachment to the city team. I am dismayed.”

Liverpool travel to Italy on Tuesday to begin their Champions League campaign in the notoriously hostile ground.

But first they take on Newcastle on Saturday knowing Toon are suffering from an injury crisis.

Napoli’s 55-000 seater San Paolo stadium was built in 1959 and is showing its age, with dangerous gaps behind the seating and poor facilities.
