Naomie Harris in running for Venom 2 role with Tom Hardy and we’re living for it

Naomie Harris is being considered for the role of villain Shriek in Venom 2.

According to Variety, the actress is in talks to play the villain in the follow-up to 2018’s Venom alongside Tom Hardy, who’ll be returning as the titular role.

The film follows Eddie Brock, played by Hardy, as a journalist who becomes a host to an alien entity known as Venom, which gives him superhuman strength and power.

Michelle Williams is also expected to return as Eddie’s former fiancé Ann and Woody Harrelson as villain Carnage.

In the comics the film is based on, Shriek is Carnage’s romantic interest, so it’s likely the pair will team up together in the film in some sort of battle against Venom.

But some fans were surprised the film would be returning for a sequel – despite taking in a total of $850 million (£667 million) following its release last year, the film was panned by many critics, with Metro.co.uk’s reviewer saying the film’s ‘story struggles under a weak and confused antagonist’.

Naomie Harris is fast becoming a household name thanks to starring in some massive film projects over the past few years.

She earned an Oscar nomination for her performance in 2016’s Moonlight and also stars in the James Bond series as Miss Moneypenny.

The actress is set to appear in the latest Bond film No Time To die, which is due out in April 2020.
