Nando’s fans furious as it replaces mango with passion fruit in its mild lime chicken dressing

NANDO’S fans have been left furious after the chicken chain revealed it’s ditching its mango and lime seasoning.

The restaurant chain announced this week it’s replacing the mild dressing in favour of passion fruit and lime from February 3 for four months.

But many Nando’s fans have vented on Twitter in recent days, saying the dressing was the only reason they went to the diner.

The mango and lime dressing was the second mildest option among the options available.

One user wrote on Twitter yesterday: “I just found out @NandosUK are taking Mango and Lime flavour off the menu – this is the reason I go to Nandos.”

While another added: “Not going Nando’s anymore cause they’re getting rid of Mango and Lime.”

And a third one stated: “YOU CAN’T GET RID OF MANGO AND LIME NOOOO!!!!”

While another, clearly also a fan of the seasoning, said: “I have just learnt some truly devastating news. Sorry to say my local Nando’s have stopped supplying mango and lime sauce.

“A moments silence should be observed around the country. What sick individual thought that was a good idea.”

The new passion fruit sauce is launching following a trial at “Nando’s Yard” – its three-week pop-up venue in Shoreditch, London.

Passion fruit and mango will slot into the same barometer spot as mango and lime, which is also the same level of spice as lemon and herb.

It won’t cost any extra – you simply select the flavouring as you normally would when ordering your chicken.

Unlike social media users, Nando’s reckons the tropical and exotic flavour of passion fruit is the perfect match for PERi-PERi chicken.

It said earlier this week: “This tangy new flavour is perfect for those who like a little sweetness on their wings or want to try something different on their burger.”

Nando’s recently launched a new “Mozam wrap” that’s filled with spicy chicken and a pineapple and coconut chutney.

It’s also trialling a new £6 lunch meal deal at 37 branches across the UK.

But Nando’s, as well as other fast-food chains, have been slammed for using chickens that grow so fast they develop lameness and skin sores.
