Nadine Coyle's journey to I'm A Celeb: From Girls Aloud split to doomed LA boozer

Nadine Coyle has become the ninth celebrity to touch down in Australia and confirm her appearance on this year’s I’m A Celebrity.

Critters, Bushtucker trials and in-camp fighting will be no match for Nadine who has endured her fair share of tough times over the last ten years.

From the brutal demise of Girls Aloud, her doomed Los Angeles business venture to breaking up her long-term beau this year, Nadine has come out smiling through it all.

Here’s everything the singer has been up to ahead of her TV comeback.

Girls Aloud

On March 20 2013 Nadine was busy in hair and make-up preparing for the final night of the Girls Aloud reunion tour at Liverpool’s Echo arena when she received some earth-shattering news.

The band’s PR and manager dropped by to inform Nadine that her four bandmates were wanting to break up the group – for good this time.

A stunned Nadine went marching to the closest person she had to an ally in the band, Sarah Harding, and demanded to know if it was true.

“Oh f*ck it. I can’t be arsed with it, I f*cking hate everybody,'” came Sarah’s response, Nadine later revealed to the Guardian.

It was then decided the band would send a joint tweet that same night confirming their demise – but Nadine demanded her name be removed from it.

She instead fired off her own Twitter message: “You should know by now I had no part in any of this split business. I couldn’t stop them. I had the best time & want to keep going.”

Over six years later Nadine said she hasn’t spoken to Cheryl, Kimberley Walsh or Nicola Roberts since and only Sarah intermittently.

Nadine put the group’s split down to catty fights and jealousy that consumed the other Girls Aloud bandmembers

While that might shock fans who’ve followed the girls since their Popstars: The Rivals days, Nadine said they barely spoken even when things were going good.

“We all had our own dressing rooms and we’d just meet up to go on stage,” she told The Sun.

Cheryl later retaliated in Attitude Magazine saying Nadine was “full of s***”.

Her doomed LA restaurant

After Girls Aloud’s acrimonious split, Nadine also said goodbye to her troubled LA restaurant.

She had purchased the beachfront diner in 2008, granting a long held dream of her parents – who went on to work there along with Nadine’s sister.

But with reports of major tax issues and stressful conditions, Nadine gave up her California dream in 2015 and Nadine’s Irish Mist was no more.

“I’m selling my restaurant and settling down in London,” she told Belfast Live.

Nadine said a big factor for her wanting to move back was so that her daughter could grow up on this side of the pond.

“It’s more real,” said Nadine.

Marriage split

After 11 years together, Nadine and her American football player Jason Bell split in September this yea r.

A source claimed they’d been living separate lives for sometime and decided they were better off as friends.

It wasn’t the first time the couple had gone their separate ways. Nadine first called it quits not long after Jason proposed to her in 2011.

Nadine later blamed it on them settling down too quickly.

“I got with Jason when I was 23 and [got] engaged, and I suddenly thought: ‘Hang on. I can’t get married, I’m only 25!’ I needed to take a wee bit of time out.

“So I moved to New York and I tweeted that we’d split up, but it was stupid because it was just that he was really getting on my nerves,”

She added: “I was just in a really bad mood and I really disliked him for a while!”

The couple managed to patch things up and welcome now five-year-old daughter Anaiya.

But broke up again in September – two months before Nadine’s I’m A Celeb comeback.
