A MUM revealed her four-year-old daughter was her partner during labour and even got in the birthing pool with her.
April Wild decided she wanted a free birth at home as she got ready to welcome her third child.
She explained that she’d had her first child in hospital, and the second one at home.
April, who teaches hypnobirthing and pregnancy yoga, wanted a “calm” environment so was only surrounded by her family, a doula and a photographer from Badass Birth Photography.
The mum-of-three was 41 weeks pregnant – her longest yet – when she finally went into labour.
When the “surges” began, April knew it was time and embarked on her schedule of reflexology, hypnobirthing and yoga.
As April prepared for the birth she revealed her four-year-old daughter was by her side every step of the way.
Sharing her experience on Huffington Post, she said: “My little girl even had her own birthing ball and copied everything I was doing.”
April said as she got in the birthing pool her daughter “pottered” in.
And she asked what all kids would – if she could get in.
The youngster defiantly told her: “‘I want to come in, Mummy. I’ll go get my swimming costume!’”
But she didn’t just splash around, but put cold flannels on April’s back as she experienced contractions – right where it hurt the most.
April said: “She was the best birth partner I could’ve had.”
As labour got under way, rather than shying away from the experience April’s daughter stayed in the pool – and even helped as baby Grayson came into the world.
April recalled: “After two big surges, Grayson came out fully and my little girl reached forwards and grabbed him, too!”
Incredible images show the youngster grabbing Grayson before he’s emerged from the water.
Despite fearing for a “split second” that she couldn’t go through with it, April said in the end it all came down to a “few seconds”.
And the new mum called it an a “beautiful bonding experience” between her and her daughter.

And babies born in December are ‘more likely to live longer and be nicer people’.
Plus this mum-to-be’s gender reveal cake showing a foot on her tummy is compared to something rude instead.
