My Chemical Romance at Milton Keynes 2020: Tickets, presale details, date and everything else about UK stadium comeback show

The pop-punkers – famed for hits like ‘Welcome to the Black Parade’ and ‘Teenagers’ – have announced a summer show, playing a headline set at Milton Keynes’ Stadium MK in June.

The band shared a clip on social media titled ‘An Offering’, in which they confirmed the date of their first UK show in nearly 10 years will take place on 20 June 2020.

Speculation had been rife as to whether the Gerard Way-fronted group would make the trip to British shores; at the start of January, the band shared a photo of a hooded figure wearing a skull mask, captioned with a Union Jack emoji.

In a second video, the flag was seen alongside symbols from the Theban alphabet; fans translated these, and the word ‘June’ was revealed.

The New Jersey band officially reunited at the tail end of 2019, playing a show at Los Angeles’ Shrine Expo Hall to kick off their much anticipated comeback tour.

The shows are the band’s first since 2012.

At their LA comeback show in December, their set-list included all the hits, and even featured a live debut of the track ‘Make Room!!!’

The band have confirmed that tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster from 9.30AM on Friday 24 January.

Tickets will be limited to six per person for standing, and four per person for seating.

If you’re keen to attend the show, you might want to set yourself a reminder for when tickets go on sale since tickets for the band’s first reunion show sold out within minutes of going on sale in November.

In 2017, speaking on the band’s initial 2013 split, frontman Gerard Way told iNews that the band “stopped being about the art”.

“There were a lot of really dark times during that period, and I was drinking again, which I haven’t talked about a lot, but it was a really difficult time for me,” he said.

“It was tough on all the guys. We scrapped records, spent millions of dollars, and we were touring on this record, and it didn’t feel like the world needed My Chem anymore.

“We had Obama, things were going really well, we were making so much progress.

“I’m able to read the writing on the wall pretty clearly, and I was like, ‘Nobody really needs us now – I think it’s time to finish.'”

When asked in October 2017 whether a My Chemical Romance reunion was on the cards, Way said: “It’s a tricky thing.”

“You have four guys that really get along, and I think we all fully understand each other now and love each other. We all got together recently and it was wonderful – we didn’t even talk about the band or playing shows again.

“It adds a layer of stress. When something gets really big like that, it’s hard on you for many reasons, and it’s very stressful, so I wouldn’t want to disrupt anybody’s life right now.”
