KITTING out your house for a children’s birthday party can be expensive, with helium balloons and decorations all adding up.
In a bid to cut down costs, mums are resorting to making their own balloon sculptures – and they’re saving themselves a fortune in the process.
Sharing their handiwork on Facebook, crafty parents are showing off their balloon masterpieces which they made for just £4.
One mum revealed how she made a Peppa Pig and number-themed tower, and she even made up party bags filled with sweets and popcorn after picking up some bargains on eBay.
Posting snaps to Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group, she said: “Made these a lot cheaper than having them made. Cost me around £4 each.
“Balloons from ebay. The sweet bags I made too.
“Stickers. Bags. Ribbon from ebay and sweets home bargains.
“Popcorn 89p for large bag home bargains.”
She added that she used around 20 balloons for each base, writing: “The number was £1.79.
“The balloons per packet for 25 were £1.89 but bought a few packets different colours and made a few.
“Used 20 balloons for base. So cost about £1.40 for base. Total less than 4 pound.”
Her incredible designs have been praised online, with more than 2,500 people liking her post.
And they shared snaps of their own creations, as the trend for DIY decorations takes off.
