Mum uses simple hack to get nightmare pen stains out of sofa

It’s a parent’s worst nightmare to have their decor tarnished by their little one.

While most would despair, this mum found a neat trick to get stains out of her sofa after her daughter took to it with a Biro pen.

What is this genius tip? Using tea tree oil.

Posting a picture of the sofa in a Facebook group, the mum had responses from others claiming the furniture had been ruined and that she would be best off usinbg a blanket to cover it.

In the image, it appears as if there are blue marks from a pen on the material of the armrest and seat of the sofa and the mother said it had happened after she left her daughter unattended, while putting her son down for a nap.

She wrote: ‘It’s the last time I leave the room while my toddler has a pen on hand – I was putting her baby brother to sleep.’

While some in the group joked that she should throw the child out, there was another less drastic solution.

Determined to try and fix the sofa the cleaning-savvy mum mixed up her own concoction with incredible results – and it only costs £2.09.

She posted unbelievable before-and-after photos on the Mums Who Clean Facebook group in which the stains had vanished.

The mum revealed how she used a combination of tea tree oil, water and a lot of elbow grease to get rid of the marks.

‘Tea tree oil in water,’ the mum wrote.

‘Sprayed it on the couch and used a scrub brush and scrubbed it.’

Unsurprisingly, other users were blown away with the mum’s stain-free sofa – and one revealed she would be storing the advice the future.

She wrote: ‘Thanks! My bub is four months and I’m sure I need this tip for the future.’
