A mum has sparked debate after saying that she bought her young ‘gamer son’ a mini-fridge for Christmas and she hasn’t ‘seen him since’.

TikTok user Lesley, @lesleymcb, said that her son wanted a fridge to keep beside his PlayStation and she didn’t see a problem with it, but she uploaded a video the next day saying that she hadn’t seen him after giving it to him.

A debate raged in the comment section of the video as some said the boy’s life was ‘sad’ but others praised the mum for not being controlling, saying the youngster was clearly enjoying himself.

Now, Lesley has made a second video where she hits back at the trolls, and asked: “what kind of a person calls a 10-year-old child a brat?”

What do you think about the video? Let us know in the comments…

In the video, Lesley walks into her son’s room and he can be seen sitting on a cushion under his bed, playing a computer game by himself.

She then goes into his gaming area and shows the fridge, then a bin that’s full of sweet wrappers and an empty drink can is on the top.

The video has been viewed over 800,000 times and there are over a thousand comments on the clip.

One said: “I find this really sad.”

But then someone replied, said: “It’s literally three degrees outside, what do you expect?”

And a third added: “Gaming is a hobby – my son loves it. We still do outdoors stuff too, but on the days we’ll be in all day he likes to do that.”

“Why?” asked a fourth. “He’s chilling, having fun. It’s not like he’s playing games for eternity.”

The initial video was uploaded on Boxing day, December 26, and the next day Lesley uploaded another video, where she replied to a negative comment.

The comment read: “We all know this brat ain’t going outside or doing anything but get lazy while his parents sit and record for TikTok.”

And Lesley replied: “What kind of person calls a 10-year-old child a brat? Shut up about things you clearly know nothing about.”
