Mum shares easy way she keeps bread fresh for her child’s lunchboxes with zero waste

YOU might have every intention to use up that loaf of bread you’ve just picked up in the supermarket.

But if you’re anything like us, it’ll either: A. End up in the bin because it’s gone mouldy or B. Mindlessly thrown in the freezer to be forgotten about forever.

Well if the latter rings a bell then you might just want to give this clever mum’s lunchbox trick a try.

Posting on the Facebook group Lunchbox Mums, the mum explained how she buys two different kinds of breads for her and her daughter – which means it rarely all gets eaten before the expiration date.

She wrote: “This is a quick trick for others wanting to freeze but not deal with it all sticking together and making it annoying to get apart.”

To save herself having to prise apart the frozen bread, the mum simply slots a square of baking paper in between the slices before putting it in the freezer.

Then when she’s ready to make her daughter’s lunch, she just selects the slices she needs.

She added: “I’ll just pull two slices out when I’m making my morning coffee.”

Not only does this method cut back on bread wastage but she also reuses the baking paper for future loafs.

Her tip has gone down a treat in the Facebook group – with other mums promising to try it out next time.
