Mum sells doll online and is branded ‘disgusting trash’ by furious woman who thinks she’s flogging her DAUGHTER

A MUM who listed a reborn doll for sale was branded ‘trash’ after a woman thought she was trying to flog her own daughter.

Jade Cowley, 24, listed the life-like doll on Facebook after buying it for her real daughter, four-year-old Freya Thomas, last Christmas.

Her advert shows the doll – the same height and weight as a real baby – in a pram with a dummy in its mouth.

Jade, from Wales, wrote: “Unsure how much she’s worth, please help.

“Baby lavender, comes with certificate, clothes and a bracelet, hardly been touched.”

But Jade, a hairdresser, received a vile message from a woman, called Rose, who thought she was selling her real daughter.

Rose wrote: “Is this still available?

‘You want to be utterly f****** ashamed of yourself, wanting to sell this gorgeous baby girl.

“If you didn’t want her then you should have kept your f****** legs shut.

“People like you should have their jaffas sewn up so you can’t have no more.

“You’re [a] disgusting piece of trash.”

Jade responded and informed the woman she wasn’t selling a baby.

She replied: “It’s a doll.

“So yes Rose, take your stinking attitude elsewhere and read the description before you go bumping your gums.”

Jade found the message hilarious, saying: “She thought I was selling my actual child on Facebook.

“I was surprised. Come on, I know they’re very life-like and the description wasn’t the best, but who would sell a baby on Facebook Marketplace?

Jade thought she didn't need to specify she was selling a doll and not a baby

“My boyfriend James [Lupton] was on the phone to me at the time and when I told him he was laughing and was then speechless.

“People said they could never look at a Jaffa Cake the same again after the comment that Rose used.

“I can’t wait to tell my daughter when she’s older about the day someone thought I was trying to sell her on Facebook.”

The reborn dolls are hand-made and are intended to look as realistic as possible, but Jade didn’t think she needed to spell out it wasn’t a real baby.

She added: “My initial advert didn’t state it was a reborn doll, hence why she didn’t know, but no normal person would sell a child.

“I changed the advert after all the comments and message from Rose and I added the price she was worth.”

Jade decided to sell the doll for £220 after Freya barely touched the pricey doll after receiving it for Christmas last year.

The mum planned to put the cash towards presents for this year, adding: “I bought the reborn doll last Christmas for my daughter.

“With it only being 10 months old and hardly touched or played with, I decided to sell it so I could put it towards new gifts for Christmas.

“I wasn’t sure how much I would get for her as she wasn’t old and in very good condition.

“I reached out on Facebook to see if some professionals could give me a rough idea how much I would I would get for her.”

The doll is still for sale, with Jade hoping for between £180 and £250 for it.

She added: “Some people must think she’s a doll from a shop and not worth much, but there are collectors out there who know their value.”
