GETTING children to help out around the house can be tricky at the best of times – let alone a lockdown.
However, one savvy mum has come up with a genius way to get her kid to more enthusiastically assist with chores during the coronavirus pandemic.

In a post on Facebook group ‘Kmart Hacks & Decor’, the clever parent has enticed her daughter, five, to assist with a variety of boring jobs in exchange for treats.
The woman explained how she had created an “award shop” – featuring sweets and toys in a box.
Captioning pictures of her brilliant idea, she wrote: “Today we made an award shop (all items are from Kmart besides the box).
“The award shop is open from 1pm-2pm every day over the holidays for the little one.

“She has a list of jobs she can chose to do or not do to earn some [fake] money.”
The mum, who lives with her family in Australia, revealed that her little girl can trade the hard-earned cash for purchases including lolly pops, puzzles and a doll – or she can save up if she doesn’t yet have enough money for what she wants.
“I thought this was a good idea to do as it involves learning about money, counting, and helping around the house,’ she added.
The fake money and “shop stock” cost her less than a tenner to buy.

Odd jobs her child has been helping her with include putting washing away, hoovering her toy room, taking the rubbish out and setting the table.
The mum noted: “I think it’s suitable for kids around four and up [and it’s] great for the holidays and brings something exciting to the kids during isolation.”
Her post went down well with fellow mums who praised the handy concept.
