She revealed that she accidentally left a pen in the living room while she cleaned up.

Sharing pictures of her grey sofa covered in pen marks to Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips, she wrote: “2 min shower and this happens. It’s going to be one of those days.”

After half an hour scrubbing, she’d only managed to clean the arm so turned to the internet for help.

She wrote: “This happened this morning while I was in the shower.

“(I stupidly left a pen out) and after 30 mins of elbow grease I’ve only got the arm clean. Any ideas?”

Fellow mums didn’t disappoint, with dozens of people commenting offering advice.

One mum suggested: “Will the cover come off? You could soak it in nappysan and wash it after.”

Another said: “I used Ariel when my daughter did this to my mum’s sofa and it all came off. Good luck.”

But among the dozens of comments, several people recommended hairspray.

Not normally used as a cleaning product, the mum decided to give it a go.
