A MUM who was critically ill after mistaking leukaemia for flu has celebrated beating it by getting married and having a miracle baby.

Ann Hope, 39, thought her fatigue and aches were down to a virus — but when the symptoms persisted tests revealed myeloid leukaemia.

She was given chemotherapy and was so ill her family was warned she might die. But Ann, of Birmingham, is now in remission and has wed long-term partner Matty.

Doctors had warned Ann, who already had two children, the chemo meant she probably could not have more.

But she became pregnant just after the wedding and is now caring for 15-month-old daughter Eden. Ann said: “She’s a miracle baby.”

Ann fell ill in March 2016.

She said: “I was having flu-like symptoms. I was taking my little boy to school but had to get a taxi there and a bus back because I couldn’t physically walk there.

“I was exhausted. I was aching all over and as soon as I had dropped him off I would go home and sleep for the rest of the day.”

“It was a massive shock. The consultant said if they hadn’t brought me in then, I would have been dead within 48 hours.

“I was that ill. They started chemo the next day and the next day I was in intensive care. My husband was told I wouldn’t make it.

Ann’s condition improved and after six rounds of chemo she was told she was in remission in November 2016
