Mum-of-four uses UV light to detect unwanted stains in son’s bedroom

A mum has revealed how she uses a UV light to detect hidden stains in her son’s bedroom.

Corrina Fisher kept finding a foul smell when she walked into her 21-year-old son’s room.

After he admitted he had been sick following a drinking session, there was a lingering stench on the carpet that Corrina wanted to get rid of.

So she used a UV light – a small blue light device that illuminates surface stains when used in a dark room.

The light helped Corrina then clean up the area, ensuring that the bad smell disappeared.

After the mum-of-four shared the tip on Facebook group Hinch Army Cleaning Tips inspired by the eponymous influencer, Corrina was hailed a ‘genius’.

Other parents said they’d be trying out the trick to get rid of those stubborn stains invisible to the eye.

UV light devices like Corrina’s can be used to detect germs, often used by crime scene investigators to identify body fluids.

The lights cause materials such as bacteria, urine, seminal fluids, and blood, to fluoresce so that the naked eye can detect them.

Some members of the group joked that Corrina should add her tip to a True Crime group on Facebook.

The mum of four boys said she cleaned up the affected carpet area with bicarbonate of soda.

She wrote on the post: ‘Top tip (it’s also a bit disgusting ). My son was sick in his room last weekend ( he’s 21. It was alcohol-induced. So no sympathy necessary),

‘I have tried all week to get rid of the smell. I’ve just had this genius idea to use my UV torch which shows up bodily fluids.’

Corrina added: ‘In case why you’re wondering why I have a UV torch, (I’m not a for-hire murderer). I am a mother of four boys and I bought it ages ago to see if my “around the toilet” cleaning skills were okay.’

Group members said they can’t wait to try it out in their homes.

One person wrote: ‘Wow what a great post! I feel like you have now shown everyone, that everyone should now own a UV light. Women will be adding it to their Christmas lists.

Another said: ‘I didn’t realise I needed a UV torch until right now. It’s going on my Christmas list.’

Will you be adding it to yours?
