Mum-of-22 Sue Radford shares hack to occupy kids so she can do the housework

Sue Radford from Morecambe, Lancashire, has her work cut out for her when it comes to keeping her 10-bedroom home clean and tidy – now she’s revealed how she does it

Supermum Sue Radford has shared her hack for keeping her kids quiet while she tackles the housework.

With 22 children, keeping things running smoothly can be tough.

Every day, Sue, mum to Britain’s biggest family, spends hours tidying their house, a 10-bed former care home in Morecambe, Lancashire, which has been newly renovated.

Now, the supermum has revealed how she keeps her children occupied so she can tidy in peace.

Taking to Instagram, she shared a short video of herself and her youngest using an app called Reading Eggs.

Captioning the promotional post, Sue wrote: “Some peace and quiet!⁣⁣

“We get lots of comments about the importance of parents getting a bit of time to yourself.

“Whether it’s doing the washing up, making tea or just getting some time to destress and chill, you need 15 minutes here and there to get on with things.

“Obviously getting any guilt-free time can be tricky for us and we TRY to avoid just sticking the kids in front of the tv for too long if we can – but there are days when that is very tempting! So, I wanted to introduce you to a new app we’ve been using called @readingeggs.

“We’ve been using it over the past couple of months and it’s been a revelation. The app is a learning tool for kids aged 2 – 13 and it makes learning fun using a variety of games and activities – the children love it.

“The best part about the app is that the kids genuinely enjoy using it so it doesn’t feel like a chore to get them to do something productive and something that is benefiting their learning. ⁣⁣

“They’ll sit down, sometimes together and will happily use the app between 15 – 30 mins a day which means I can get on with other things, maybe even get 5 minutes peace to myself, without feeling guilty because I know they are doing something that’s helping them learn.⁣⁣”

Sue also revealed that Reading Eggs is currently offering a 30-day free trial.

Many parents in the comments thanked Sue for sharing the app, grateful to be able to have a little time to tick chores off their to-do list.
