Mum mocked for using a bin to make a light shade for her daughter’s room

A MUM has been teased online for posting a photo of a light shade she’d fashioned… out of a wastepaper basket.

The Australian woman created the DIY fixture for her daughter’s bedroom, but nobody was particularly impressed when it was re-shared in a Facebook group.

The picture was uploaded anonymously, alongside the original caption explaining that it had been made with a $2 Kmart bin.

This read: “From a $2 bin to a light shade for my daughter’s room.”

In the image, you can see that the can has been turned upside down and accessorised with lines of pom poms across the top and bottom.

Unfortunately for the mum, her creative handiwork ended up being labelled “trash” – with people wondering if its mesh body was shading the room at all.

One Facebook user wrote: “Come on… this is ridiculous! Like who in their right mind actually would EVER consider using a bin like this… It’s cheap it’s nasty its trash [sic].”

Another said: “It looks like a light fitting in a prison. Or an interrogation room in one of those American cop shows.”

“That’s doing a really great job at shading the light,” read one joke.

Some wondered why she’d gone to the effort of upcycling the bin when Kmart sells light shades for just a few dollars more.

One commented: “I just don’t understand. The light shades at Kmart are already cheap as s***! You could have got a proper one for $2!”

Another added: “You know you can pick up a real light shade not that expensive right?”

In more bizarre news, one mum was horrified after stumbling across her teen daughter’s secret lube stash.

A bride was mocked for her “hideous” home adjustments to a $1 wedding dress she “bought at a jumble sale”.

And these people have totally failed in the trouser department – from ultimate wedgies to waistbands in the armpits.
