Being under lockdown is making us miss all that we took for granted: seeing friends, going out, watching a film at the cinema.

The coronavirus pandemic has been especially confusing for children who may not understand why we have to stay home so much.

One mum has thought of something that will be sure to give her children something to look forward to.

Katie Eborall, 35, from Leeds has created a ‘magical jar’ of things that her son Max, five, and daugther Evie, two, can expect to do once lockdown is over.

It’s a simple way of keeping kids busy while showing them that there is an end to the current situation.

Parents on Facebook are loving Katie’s suggestion.

‘We’ve started a new thing in our house today and sharing it in case anyone else wants to try,’ Katie wrote in her post.

‘Every time we wish we could do something, go somewhere, treat ourselves, see someone we love, visit a new place, invite people to visit us, we’re going to write it down on a post-it note and put it in a jar.

‘When all this is over this will be our bucket list and we’ll work our way through the jar and be more grateful than ever for the little and lovely things in our lives. Until then we’ll enjoy watching the jar fill up with magical things to look forward to.’

Some of the notes in the jar include simple things such as ‘stay at grandpa’s house’ which is currently not possible as elderly people are self-isolating.

Other plans include building a sandcastle at the beach.

‘It was really inspired by my two children,’ Katie tells Metro.co.uk.

‘They’re too young to really understand what’s going on right now or why we are having to say no to things they usually take for granted.

‘The jar was a way we could say yes to the things they were missing and make them the things we could look forward to again.

‘It’s ended up being something that’s helping to keep us all positive as a family.’

What will you be adding to your bucket list?
