Taking to the Facebook group DIY on a Budget, the proud mum shared photos of the room transformed for the big day.

The finished design showed a corner had been taken over by the climbing area, with colourful shapes being attached to a large wooden backboard.

The woman said: “For Christmas my little boy wanted his own room and a climbing wall.

“We managed to do it too in under 3 weeks.”

She shared how she spent £32 on climbing wall shapes, £30 a sheet for the hardwood, which was cut to size, and £6 for 100 t-nuts on amazon.

They also bought a sander and a drill to make the holes and ordered battens for the wall.

The mum implied they had been inspired to make their own wall after seeing how much a pre-made climbing section would have cost.
