Mum is hailed a ‘genius’ for her ‘life changing’ chore chart – and now her eight-year-old even LIKES picking up dog poo

CHORES are important way of teaching children about the value of money – but as a parent, there’s nothing worse than having to pester the kids to do help out around the house.

That said, one savvy mum has revealed how she gets her children excited about their chores with a clever points system – and parents think it’s absolutely genius.

Mum-of-two Keira Alexander created a spreadsheet which gives her daughter points for helping out around the house.

The brilliant system also rewards the girls with bonus points for being excellent listeners, having a tidy room or being kind to one another.

Equally, the Keira’s daughters lose points for being rude, arguing, making a mess in their rooms or leaving their towels on the floor… i.e. our biggest parenting pet peeve.

At the end of every week, the girls’ points are added up and Keira gives them rewards such as pocket money, iPad time, going to the cinema and having sleepovers.

What’s more, the mum has found it works so well that her daughters actually enjoy some of their more boring chores.

She told Kidspot: “[My eldest] can’t wait to vacuum, wash the car and pick up dog poo so she can add those points to the chart.

“[My youngest] needs a few gentle reminders but I send her to the chart and she can check her morning routine expectations for herself.

“They are now fighting over whose turn it is to unload the dishwasher or hang out the washing! Who would have thought.”

After posting it on Facebook, other parents were in awe of Keira’s “life-changing” system.

One replied: “My son will work his a** off for some of these rewards!”

Another joked: “I’ll try anything at this point!”

Meanwhile, a third wrote: “I need one for my husband…”

For more parenting hacks, this mum revealed how she curls her daughter’s hair with a pair of SOCKS – and the results lasted four days.

And this mum shared her packed lunch tip which stops bananas going brown.

Plus this mum gave her kids a £5 treat budget for half term which bans them from the kitchen.
