A MUM has had the clever idea of placing a ‘chuck it bucket’ in her home to help combat her children’s messy habits.
Casey, from New South Wales in Australia, took to Facebook to pass on word of her simple system, which has successfully ensured that her kids keep their toys and items tidied away.
The post quickly received hundreds of comments and close to 2,000 likes, with many now adopting the chuck-it bucket idea in their own homes.
Explaining her scheme, Casey wrote: “Implementing a chuck it bucket as of today…”
She goes on to explain that she will pick up all of the toys that are lying around the house or not in their proper place and put them in the bucket.
“If it remains in the bucket for more than two days I will chuck it in the bin.

“I feel like I could be on to a winner here”, she writes.
She also jokingly added: “Would you consider kids recyclable, or would they go in the general waste bin?”
And it would seem the savvy mum isn’t alone in enforcing the militant binning rule in a bid to discipline her messy kids, with another mum also adopting a variation of the hack.

Commenting on Casey’s post, the mum told of how she makes her kids ‘do a chore to redeem their item back from the bucket’.
Another also shared her concept of having a ‘Sunday box’ – a rule which means that anything that remains in the bucket and isn’t emptied by Sunday night will be put in the bin or donated to charity.
Another mum has a slightly different hack for encouraging her 13-year-old son to do chores.
