When you have a young family, every penny counts.
Undoubtedly this is why so many money-saving parenting Facebook groups have grown in popularity. They frequently dispense tips which encourage us to get creative – and save money.
The most recent gem to capture imaginations comes courtesy of a mum who, when redecorating her room, created a stunning feature wall with wallpaper – and it didn’t cost her a penny.
Wallpaper can be costly, especially the more “high end” you go, but the mum in question got round this by collecting free wallpaper samples from various shops.
Sounds so simple, we’re kicking ourselves for not thinking of this ourselves.
The mum then cut the samples into hexagonal patterns to create a mosaic-effect with various designs, including florals, feathers, birds and butterflies.
Thankfully, so we can all recreate her genius, she shared her step-by-step photos of her transformation to the group Extreme Budget DIY & Life Hacks .
She wrote: “Feature wall in my bedroom.
“Collected sample wallpapers from DIY shops, traced around a hexagon shape, cut and pasted to the wall (stuck them on with blue tac first to position right).
“Wall was painted white silk, hexagons pasted straight onto the wall.”
In no time at all, the post got a lot of love, attention and praise.
“Wow that feature wall is incredible! So straight and precise can tell you put a lot of work into that. Bet you’re proud of that all looks excellent.”
Another fan added, “Can you please come and do my house.”
Based on the popularity of the post, she’ll have to get in line.
