Taking to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group on Facebook, the mum explained how she struggled to get hold of Hobbycraft’s cardboard igloo, which has been flying off the shelves over the last few weeks.

“So I couldn’t get a hold of the cardboard igloo and opted for the Santa’s grotto instead from Aldi (£7) and coloured pens from Asda (£1.80),” she wrote.

“Already had cotton wool lying around so used that for snow. Not a masterpiece but the kiddos will be happy with it I hope.”

And other parents were impressed with the mum’s handiwork, with the post having 2,500 likes already.

“I’ve bought one of these an instead of doing Christmas Eve boxes,” she said.

“I’m putting their stuff inside then they can colour it, something to keep them quiet on Crimbo Eve.

“Then I’m gonna leave the milk and cookies inside.”

While the playhouse has sold out online, it’s still available in store.
