Mum claims she instantly calms her toddler’s tantrums by making him put his head on her chest

ALL parents will know the stress and frustration of dealing with a child who’s having a meltdown, particularly in public.

After dealing with her three-year-old’s outbursts, one mum came up with a solution to calm him down, and says it helps her de-stress as well.

She shared her brilliant tip for diffusing her toddler’s tantrums to Facebook group 5 Minute Mum.

She said: “I just wanted to share a tantrum defusing technique that is working with my almost four-year-old at the moment.”

She called it a ‘heart hug’, and said it helps him calm down by himself as well.

The mum explained: “You ask them to come give you a cuddle, rest their head over your heart and ask them what they hear!

I’ve found it really helps me to calm down too

“I get him to tell me what sound it is making and how fast it’s going.

“I’ve found it really helps me to calm down too as I am usually feeling quite frustrated by the time we get to this point.

“I’ve been doing it for a few weeks now and yesterday he was getting worked up and he came and asked me for a heart hug all by himself!”

She said that the technique helped him stop crying as he had to “listen and the beat helps him to relax”.

And it seemed to be working well, as he had started doing it by himself.

The mum added: “It also works when he winds himself up and is bouncing off the walls and can’t calm down by himself.

“I hope this helps at least one of you.”

Her tip has gone down well with fellow parents, as they thanked her for sharing her tip.

One mum said: “This is the best advice! It’s what I do also. It definitely calms them down.”

Another wrote: “I love this. I’m [going to] try this next time if I remember at the right moment. Thanks for sharing.”

A third said: “Love this! My daughter loves giving hugs so I will definitely try this next time she has a tantrum! Thanks for sharing.”

Meanwhile this mum created a ‘school station’ for her kids to get them doing their chores – and it speeds mornings up too.

And this mum made an incredible mini-bed for her toddler to maximise every inch of space in their new home.
