Mum claims salon charged £425 for 'fake' hair extensions 'made from horse hair'

A woman has slammed a salon that charged her £425 for top of the range human hair extensions, claiming they were ‘”fake” and “made of horse hair.”

Lacy Price decided to splash out on what she believed to be high quality Russian virgin hair back in June, but was left with an itchy scalp and her hair falling out in clumps just days later.

The mum-of-four, from Surrey, now believes the extensions were, in fact, made out of horse hair instead of human hair, as advertised.

After two washes, Lacy says she was left with matted clumps and bald patches, prompting her to confront the unnamed salon – which she later shared on TikTok.

“I usually do my extensions myself but I wanted to treat myself and I had heard of this salon because they’re very local to me,” the 27-year-old explained.

“I had booked in for a full head of hair extensions and after they put them in, it felt fine but until you wash it, you don’t know what the hair is going to look like.”

She added: “After two washes, I started contacting the hair salon to say my hair has gone like straw and is in bad condition – I was ignored.

“It’s definitely not human hair – she advertised it as Russian virgin hair but I think it could be horse hair because it doesn’t even brush through.

“Some hair salons will mix synthetic hair in with real hair to make it cheaper for them but I’m a single mum-of-four and £425 is a lot of money.”

Lacy says she sent eight emails to the salon and didn’t receive a single response, so she headed down there to speak to staff in person.

“I’d had enough of being ignored and had enough of the itching so I walked in and asked them to feel the hair and told them it’s in really bad condition,” the mum continued.

“I asked them to take the extensions out and give me my money back but the manager claimed there was nothing wrong with it.

“But I know I’ve saved a lot of other women from going to this salon and wasting their money. From what I can see on the reviews, I’m not the only one who had a bad experience.

“My hair is very important to me and makes me feel confident so this has really affected me.”

In a statement, the salon said the extensions were “100 percent human hair,” adding that the incident had caused the owner to suffer “threats to my life and livelihood because of this.”
