Why haven’t we seen more Alien video games? I’ve been wondering about this ever since Sega released the incredible Alien: Isolation.
I loved that video game and I honestly think it’s the best Alien property to be released ever since Ridley Scott’s original 1979 masterpiece, Alien.
That film was incredible and the video game, Alien Isolation, was the only thing I’ve seen since in the Alien franchise which has captured that same feeling.
Isolation had the same terror, the same sense of impending doom, the same idea of man (or woman) vs. Alien.
That’s what the original Alien movie was all about, and I know there are a lot of fans of James Cameron’s Aliens out there.
However, I felt that Cameron’s film took the Alien franchise away from what it was all about to begin with.
I’ve often said that I felt Aliens is to blame for the current dire state the Alien franchise is currently in.
However, Alien: Isolation brought the franchise back to its roots and I was hoping for more games like that one.
That said, I’ve been waiting since 2014 and there’s been nothing since then in the video game space.
Disney’s takeover of Fox might be to blame for the lack of Alien video games

Turns out that Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox might be the reason why we haven’t seen another Alien game since.
According to Cliff Bleszinski on Twitter, the Fox takeover was the reason why no Alien video games have come out since 2014.
Cliff went a step further by claiming that Disney actually cancelled planned Alien games.

This is a huge shame because I and I know many other gamers would have loved to have played more Alien video games.
