M&S is selling new fizzy Percy Pigs called Phizzy Chews

M&S has launched a new line in its popular Percy Pigs range – and this time they are fizzy pig-shaped sweets.

The Percy Pig Phizzy Chews are a similar fruit flavoured chewy sweet as the rest of the range, but have a sour sugar coating.

The colourful sweets are not in the shape of the pig faces like the original Percy sweets.

Instead they are shaped like sitting pigs – although we think they look more like little gummy bears.

M&S first released a sweet in this shape last year when it launched Percy Pig Fruity Chews.

This new product is a cross between them and the sour Phizzy Pigtails.

Made with real fruit juice, and no artificial colours or flavours, the Phizzy Chews are also suitable for vegetarians.

Each mini Percy is a different colour based on the apple, red grape, strawberry, blueberry, orange, or lemon flavour of the sweet.

They are in stores now and cost £1.65 for a 150g bag – the same as other Percy ranges.

Percy Pigs sweets have gone through various iterations during their time, including Percy Piglets and Percy and Friends.

Last year, Percy Pigs came under fire after M&S changed the recipe to make all variations of the gummy sweets vegetarian – outraging some fans who said they didn’t taste as good.

M&S launched a Veggie Percy in 2011, which was free from animal product gelatine, but still kept the originals for meat-lovers – until last year.

The sweets are one of the posh retailers’ best selling lines.

While you’re in M&S you may want to check out its £20 Valentine’s Day meal deal which includes steak and Prosecco.

Sweet fans will be pleased to hear that B&M and Poundland will be selling Opal Fruits next month – 22 years after its name was changed to Starburst.

And it may only January but chocoholics might want to check out Celebrations’ “Easter Mix”, which includes Maltesers bunnies and Galaxy eggs.
