Mrs Hinch has admitted that becoming a mother for the first time stopped her from competing on Strictly Come Dancing 2019, but that she would still potentially compete in another series.

Back in April (god, have we really been talking about Strictly for that long?), reports emerged that BBC bosses were keen to get the cleaning influencer on board for the latest series, due to her glam appearance and big online following.

But as a fan of Strictly like the rest of us, Mrs Hinch – real name Sophie Hinchcliffe – tuned into Saturday night’s launch show and took the opportunity to tell her fans why she wasn’t on the programme this year.

‘I love this programme,’ she said on Instagram Stories.

‘As you can see I am not on it, I couldn’t because it takes so much training and you have to be away from family for a bit to be able to train that much and obviously I’ve just had Ronnie and it wasn’t the [right] timing.’

The 29-year-old welcomed her first son in June, but admitted that she could see herself following in the footsteps of fellow social media star Joe Sugg and competing in a future year, saying: ‘You never know, maybe one year.’

Mrs Hinch on the dance floor? Yes please!

Despite having over 2.7 million Instagram followers, a regular spot on This Morning and a book deal, there is something about rising up on the internet that is keeping Mrs Hinch from competing on such a well recognised show.

‘To me it’s mad because celebrities go on that and I am not a celeb,’ she told her Instagram followers.

‘Imagine I am on there and just come out, they’ll be like, “who are you?”’

Trust us Sophie: if Joe and Saffron Barker can do it, so can you!

Strictly Come Dancing returns Saturday 14 September at 7pm on BBC 1.
