Mrs Hinch fans share 'game-changing' trick to cleaning windows – and it's free

Cleaning windows often leaves messy streaks across the glass, but fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch have come up with the perfect solution – that doesn’t cost a penny

Arguably one of the hardest household chores, cleaning your windows can be a real pain thanks to how difficult it is to achieve that glistening glass finish without messy streaks ruining your hard work.

But if you’ve ever spent hours trying to get your windows completely clean, then you’ll no doubt be as thankful as we were to discover that fans of cleaning guru Mrs Hinch – full name Sophie Hinchliffe – have shared the perfect hack to banish streaks for good.

What’s more, their secret doesn’t involve heading to the shops for any fancy products, and will even see you recycling a useful byproduct of an appliance you already use, Express.co.uk reports.

Posting on Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips Facebook page, one woman asked for advice on products to use on her “streaky” windows after numerous failed attempts.

She said: “Help. I’m sick of my windows looking streaky. What does everyone use?”

And when the cleaning fans responded, they told her the secret to cleaning up your windows with just one item – the water that’s collected as a byproduct from your tumble dryer.

One person said: “A free trick I use to clean my windows is to use tumble dryer water. It works every and my windows always come out streak-free.”

While another added: “Definitely water from the tumble dryer. Spray on, give it a wipe with kitchen paper or microfibre cloth and it’s streak free.”

And a third agreed, stating: “Water from the drawer of my condenser tumble dryer. Been using it for years to clean windows, mirrors, stainless steel and water plants etc. Nothing beats it and doesn’t cost a penny.”

The trick will only work if you have a condenser tumble dryer that collects water, but it’s a great way to ensure that you’re conserving water instead of just throwing it away.

And you can use tumble dryer water for other things too, including watering your houseplants and on other surfaces that might produce streaks such as your TV screen.

When one person in the Facebook group asked how to use the tumble dryer water on her windows, she was told: “On its own with a cloth or paper towel.”
