Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll has claimed that the hit BBC series is proving to be seriously popular around the globe and that it’s been named the number one comedy in Jamaica.

The 64-year-old comedian, who joined Steve Wright with his wife Jennifer Gibney, proudly talked about the show’s achievements and how they’ll soon be touring the world.

Speaking on BBC Radio 2, Brendan insisted that the sitcom’s success is ‘off the scale’.

He continued: ‘Listen, Mrs Brown’s Boys is the number one comedy in Jamaica. People need to get out more.’

The funnyman also revealed that the upcoming 2020 tour would take in a number of cities it had not visited in previous years.

‘There are places in the UK we don’t get to because we only tour for 12 weeks,’ he said. ‘In that 12 weeks you cannot get everywhere. We have never done Mrs Brown in Bournemouth, Hull, Edinburgh or Blackpool, so we are going to do that.’

For 2021, Brendan is planning an international tour which includes five weeks in Australia, then a week in New Zealand, four weeks in South Africa, then five weeks on the east coast of America and five weeks in Canada.

What a treat!

In a recent interview, Brendan insisted that he doesn’t care about critics who aren’t fans of Mrs Brown’s Boys.

‘I can only write what I can write,’ he told the Daily Mirror. ‘I don’t think about pressure, or critics. I write what I find funny and hope the audience agree.’

The actor, who plays Agnes on stage as well as screen, recently advised the show’s haters to switch off if the show isn’t to their taste.

‘Just change the f***ing channel,’ Brendan blasted at The Sun. ‘The evidence of four NTA awards means people are not just liking it — they’re actually prepared to stand up and shout it.’

Mrs Brown’s Boys returns on New Year’s Day at 10.30pm on BBC One.
