Move over Van Gogh…Britney Spears has landed her ‘first solo art show’ in France

Move over Van Gogh, Monet and Banksy, there’s a new artist du jour in town.

It’s Britney, bitch.

In 2017 the pop star shared a video of herself enjoying a spot of painting on Instagram.

Now, a French art gallery has snapped her up and is going to display Britney’s work in her ‘first solo show.’

The title of the exhibit will be ‘Sometimes you just gotta play!!!!!!’ after the caption Britney wrote under her painting video, and will apparently run ’til the world ends’, in a nod to her 2011 song.

Galerie Sympa, in the southwestern village of Figeac, posted the exciting news on their Instagram page: ‘We’re thrilled to announce that we will be opening @britneyspears first solo show in a contemporary art gallery on Saturday January 18 2020, from 6-9PM.’

Following her big reveal that she has a penchant for pastels, Britney, 37, donated her now iconic flower painting to a Las Vegas charity auction. Robin Leach, host of CBS series Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, snapped it up for a pretty impressive $10,000 (£7,708). Being the kind soul that she is, Britney donated the proceeds to victims of a Vegas mass shooting that happened at the city’s Root 91 Harvest music festival a month before.

At the time, she reportedly said: ‘The flowers in my painting represent a new beginning, and it’s in that spirit that we move forward.’

The team at the French gallery are clearly ultra fans, as they have also used the #FreeBritney hashtag when talking about the exhibition on its website and Insta posts.

The hashtag refers to a movement organised by Brit’s fans who, according to Rolling Stone, are ‘collectively concerned about the state of her long-running conservatorship’.

Britney’s father was given complete control of the singer’s assets in January 2008 after she was admitted to psychiatric hospital for five days. Despite the conservatorship scheduled to end in 2009, it’s still ongoing today.

It’s not yet known if Britney will be attending the art show, or even knows about it. Metro.co.uk have contacted her reps for comment.

What we do know is, we’re buying a ticket.
